Hugo MATHIS, piano

After playing professional tennis as a Junior, Hugo decided, aged 21, that he wanted to play the piano. With help of Bertrand Massei, he entered the Postgraduate Class at the Strasbourg Conservatoire later that year. He improved his piano skills in the class of Michel Gaechter, and, after three years of studies, he obtained his Diplôme d’Etudes Musicales with Honours. After meeting Pascal Nemirovski during various masterclasses, they decided to work together. Pascal Nemirovski became his mentor, a source of inspiration, enabling to be admitted to the Haute Ecole de Musique in Lausanne in the class of Pierre Goy. He obtained his Bachelor of Music in June 2017, then went on to study for a Masters Degree at the Codarts Conservatoire. In September 2019 he began his Postgraduate Studies at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, and was awarded his  Degree with Honours the following year. Throughout his studies Hugo has taken part in masterclasses with many famous pianists, like Jean-Claude van den Eynden, Claudius Tanski and Imogen Cooper. He has also performed in many concerts in France, Switzerland and the Netherlands, and was chosen to play Prokofiev’s 6th Sonata for Boris Berman.
