Programme

Antoine de Bertrand -  « Amours » de Ronsard

During the Renaissance, secular music was often composed for the poetry of the time, but it was extremely rare for a composer to go so far as to concentrate on the works of a single poet. This was, in fact, the case with Antoine de Bertrand, who set to music a large part of the poetic cycle “Les Amours” by Pierre de Ronsard. He even went so far as to dedicate each of his compositions to one of the women he was in love with, just like the renowned poet who inspired him.

It is the aim of this concert to highlight the exceptional talent of Antoine de Bertrand in celebrating the already sublime poetry of Pierre de Ronsard.
