Lea DESANDRE, mezzo-soprano

After winning the Révélation Artiste Lyrique des Victoires de la Musique Classique in 2017, the HSBC Prize at the Festival of Aix en Provence, and also the Young Soloist Prize of the French-speaking Public Media, this Franco-Italian soprano first achieved public  recognition with William Christioe in “Le Jardin des Voix”.

After her début at the Opéra-Comique in 2017 in the title-rôle of “Alcione” by Marais, and a solo appearance at the same venue in a piece by Rameau in 2018, she performed in some of the great international concert halls : Alice Tully Hall, Salzburger Festspiele, Festival d’Aix en Provence, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Musikverein Vienna, Sydney Opera House, Paris Philharmonia, Lincoln Center, Opéra de Bordeaux, Théâtre de Châtelet…..

She has also given recitals with her partner, the lutist Thomas Dunford: Ambronay, Tournée Marocaine, Kilkenny, Salle Cortot, Opéra de Nantes and…Rieux-Minervois !

Thomas DUNFORD, lute

The son of two great players of the viola da gamba, Sylvia Abramowicz and Jonathan Dunford, both of them pupils of Jordi Saval, he discovered the lut when he was only nine, thanks to the musician Claire Antonini. After studying at the CRR in Paris, he won First Prize in 2006 in the class of Charles-Edouard Fantin. He continued his studies at La Schola Cantorum in Basle with Hopkinson Smith, also attending master-classes with Rolf Lislevand and Julian Bream.

Since then he has performed at the Carnegie Hall in New York and the Wigmore Hall in London. He regularly appears as a soloist, or accompanied, in the most prestigious European festivals, such as : the Ambronay Festival, La Chaise-Dieu Festival and the Utrecht Festival. Drawn to a whole variety of musical genres, including jazz, he has worked with numerous conductors and soloists, and has played in chamber music ensembles, as well as in famous musical groups, such as : Le Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles, La Capella Mediterranea, Le Concert Spirituel, Les Arts Florissants and Les Musiciens de Saint-Julien.

He played at the château in 2017 with the mezzo-soprano Anna REINHOLD.
