Sarah & Deborah NEMTANU, violins

Sarah and Deborah Nemtanu form a perfect duo. Their complete knowledge and understanding of each other, as well as their deep-rooted  empathy during their performances, creates unique, magical moments. Natural spontaneity and joie de vivre embody their musical philosophy. In addition, their differences enrich their interpretation ; the purity and precision of Deborah merging with the spirit and intensity of Sarah. From a very early age they embraced the repertoire of “two violins”, with its intimacy, and also its virtuosity. This is a repertoire which continues to evolve and enrich itself with works by contemporary composers like Eric Tanguy, Philippe Hersant, Benoît Menut and Edith Lejet. Once they had established their individual careers, they decided to record their first CD, Bach/Schnittke, which was released in 2014. In 2016, their second CD came out, devoted to Bartok’s duos, and opened up unexpected opportunities for them, such as sharing the stage of the Grand Rex with Iggy Pop ! Lauded by the critics, the big labels soon came to propose new projects for them. So their third album has just been released, playing with the Kodama sisters, devoted to the composer Martinu, just released on the Pentatone label, with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Marseilles, conducted by Lawrence Foster.

The appeal of the warm tones of the viola for Deborah, have opened up the wide repertoire of the duo “ for violin and viola”.

Sarah is Lead Solo Violin in the National Orchestra of France, Deborah is super soloist violin in the Paris Chamber Orchestra.

They have played separately at the Château in 2012, 2018 and 2019.
